IKEA Recall...
If you are the proud owner of jars of herring you might have bought at IKEA on your way home from furnishing your pied-a-terre near Hollywood Beach, you better listen. IKEA has issued a recall notice, due to shards of broken glass being found in the jars:
IKEA has received two reports where customers have found a large piece of glass in IKEA FOOD labeled jars of marinated herring. There has been no report of injuries.
Safety is always a priority at IKEA and as a precautionary measure IKEA is recalling IKEA FOOD labeled jars of marinated herring (DILLSILL, SENAPSSILL, INLAGD SILL) with a “Best Before” Date 13-02-2008 or earlier. The “Best Before” Date (DD-MM-YYYY) is to be found on the label directly above the bar code.
The IKEA FOOD labeled marinated herring is sold at Swedish Food Markets at IKEA stores. Only IKEA FOOD labeled jars of marinated herring with a “Best Before” Date 02-13-2008 or earlier are involved in the recall. IKEA FOOD labeled marinated herring with “Best Before” Date 02-14-2008 and later are not affected by the recall. Abba labeled marinated herring is also not affected by the recall.
Thanks for the heads up Design Boner!

A few weeks ago I went to the Bucktown store and was saddened to see that they had very little in the way of good thrift finds there. Maybe it's the location or something, but the Halsted and Andersonville stores always seem to have better stuff for home and wardrobe....

Beards galore.....
Check out some interesting photoshop action with Tom Holmes/Katie Cruise and Bruce "The Bear" Willis.. Two beards in one day!! HA!
Dear Gay Chicago & David Wilshire
Could you please 'splain the real reason you closed the Cheetah's 4 locations so goddam abruptly with no notice? Your note doesn't really explain all that much..
Dear Members:
Cheetah Gym has been closed due to employee theft and graft. The degree of corruption was enormous. I was left in a position where I could trust no-one or anything. Most of the problems were at the Bucktown facility. Edgewater, I believe, was relatively free of graft. The scams ran the gamut but it looks like I was the sole victim of theft. However, I urge you to get fraud protection as a precaution.
I do not mean to implicate the entire staff. There were many good and honest people that worked at Cheetah.
Some will herald this news as good while others will be sad. Others will be very angry. I tried my hardest to save it and take back control but it was clear I would not be allowed that opportunity. I was forced to employ people I thought should be fired and that placed me in a Catch 22. The final straw came yesterday when the RGM left payroll incomplete and I was left to try and finish it as best I could. Many new employees could not be paid because I was not given their information. The RGM should have been the first to be fired. When she quit we were left with many shifts not covered and no-one to cover them. I had hoped to be able to run them long enough to reinstate the infrastructure. But the task was too great.
You will have to do what you need to do to assert your individual interests. I hope to prosecute the guilty people or at least sue them. But I am likely in the same boat the rest of my staff is in. I am unemployed.
It was an honor to serve you.
David Wilshire
What does concern me is the fact that so many people consider you a bit of a tweaking nutjob.
Just read some of the comments posted here.
